Avoid Taking Azithromycin with Alcohol

Filed under: Other Health — Tags: — admin @ 7:44 am

Have you ever been prescribed with azithromycin? Perhaps you may have been prescribed with its brand name, Zithromax instead. Azithromycin is known to treat bacterial infections, from ear infections down to sexually transmitted infections like Chlamydia. It should be taken only with the proper prescription of your doctor as the side-effects are quite potentially hazardous. However, what you should really avoid is taking alcohol and azithromycin together. If you are on medication for this drug, its not wise to dabble in alcohol. The deleterious effects of alcohol when taken in excess become even more dangerous when azithromycin is thrown into the mix. Common symptoms include dizziness, allergic reactions, impaired vision, and diarrhea. When alcohol is consumed in excessive units, you will also notice that you urinate more and diarrhea becomes worse. Moreover, your liver will be abused twice over with having to break down both alcohol and azithromycin all at the same time. It can even possibly cause the failure of your liver or cirrhosis of the liver.
